This paper establishes a method focused in an exhaustive diagnosis guide for the subsequent design phase. The methodology is focused in local exhaust systems with tapered ducts and fabric collectors as the filtration component. The “redesigning task” may present higher levels of uncertainty that the development of a new model given the diverse factors implied in the use of existing resources; sometimes, those are already installed and operating. With the aim of settling guidelines that direct the comprehensive analysis of the system and its components, a framework is proposed for a structured and straightforward process. This process takes into account calculations over each of the system components, by this mean, qualitative and quantitative design variables are combined for a detailed analysis. Also, it is considered a graphic method for pressure loss calculations as an instrument to analyze the system through time.
